Last night after work, we stopped by the Hotel Monaco to see a friends photographic art exhibition. His photo's are incredible, and if you are in the area you should go and check it out, his work will be on display I believe until August 31.
Once home I made a scrumy lamb dinner. A person at work raises lambs, and I bought half a lamb from him, last night we ate scrumptious lamb steak and a vegetable medley. The vegetable dish that I make in one of my favourites, as it's so easy and tastes so good. I chop up a variety of vegetables (carrots, onion, mushrooms, potatoes, celery, bell pepper), place them in an over dish, cover them with olive oil, white wine, herbs and garlic, then stick them in the oven for over an hour. They taste so good.
For some reason I am very tired this week. I am not sure if its due to the busy weekend, work, emotional roller coaster or what. Realistically, its more than likely a combination of all the above, and some other things that I just can't think of right now. I am fueling myself with coffee, and hoping that helps. I think the excitement of going to the UK is also adding to things.
I spoke with my mum this morning, we are trying to get plans all worked out, so that I actually get the best out of my time there. I want to see my friends, but I also want to be able to spend some quality time with my mum, dad, brother and granddad. Its my brothers birthday while I am back too, and I have no idea what to get him, I mean what do you buy a 17 year old that has everything?
I love photo exhibits. We have a lot here for some reasons. Mostly by Native Americans. Ceremonial is on this weekend here and tribes come from all over North America. There was a very colorful parade in the dark last night (streetlights only, I mean. A very busy time of year for our little tourist town.
ReplyDeleteYou are a good cook. I remember not long after I met you you were making shortbread for a party at work. That seems a long time ago. You wouldn't let me even taste it. :( I am not much into lamb.
I know you are looking forward so much to going home. I can't wait to see your photos. I hope you can find time occasionally to give us updates while you are there. All boys have some sort of interest. Besides girls. You'll think of something good to get him. Nice post. :)

The Ceremonial looks really interesting. How long does it go on for? Just the weekend?
I'm sure there are better pictures. I just googled it quickly and got that link. Yes, just a few days. Sunday is the last day. It seems short for them to come from so far away. From Alaska And Canada to Central America. It is very crowded and hectic but very very interesting. The height of the tourist season for us. People come from Europe for it. Germans especially are very much into American Indians and even have clubs where they dress up in native costumes. Some of the Plains Indians camp in traditional teepees at the park. You would enjoy the large exhibit hall with all the Native American jewelry and crafts, and their drawings, sandpaintings and paintings. Hugely famous Indian artists come from all over and exhibit. I can afford some of the work of the young people and teenagers, because they don't price their things so high. But they are still awesome. I mostly collect baskets, pottery, and Kachinas. I am not into rugs. Wow. What a long comment. Sorry. :)
